Unit 3 Goes Batty!

Children from Unit 3 took part in a bat day with the Devon Greater Horseshoe Bat Project on Thursday. The day was part of the school’s journey to achieving a Bat Buddy School Award, an initiative set up by the Devon Wildlife Trust to get schools on board with helping to protect bats in our local environment.

During the day, the children learnt all about the Greater Horseshoe Bat, their prey and their habitat, even getting to see a bat skeleton up close! We explored our Woodland area, to identify insects and bugs that may attract the bats and created some bat themed drawings and collages.

At the end of the day, the children presented what they had learnt in a Unit Assembly, sharing their bat facts and new found knowledge with the rest of the children.
