Home Learning and Supporting the Curriculum at home
We have attached a selection of Knowledge Organisers, for you to use to support your child’s learning at home. They set out clearly what we expect children to learn and remember in that subject. Please use them at home to reinforce and help embed your child’s learning.
Our home learning project will be set on Teams, please see their home-school link books for the logins. They also have access to lots of apps to help their learning at home (TT Rockstars, Sumdog, Math shed, MyOn, Letterjoin, Oxford Owls). These are also on their password sheet.
The year 2’s and year 1’s in blue and grey RWI groups will have weekly spellings to practice on Spelling Shed.
Library - each week, the children will choose a library book to share at home, please return the book every Monday.

Our Curriculum
Children in Key Stage 1 and 2 will enjoy a long and short enquiry each half term.
Long Enquiries
A long enquiry typically lasts five weeks and allows us to teach a subject, such as history, in depth. Clear expectations of what will be learned, is shared with parents and pupils through a Knowledge Organiser. At the end of the work, we plan to use Enquiry Quizzes on our iPads to see how much each child has remembered.
Short Enquiries
A short enquiry can last anything from one to three days and adds breadth to our curriculum.
Our Learning Enquiry this term is DT—Design Technology, exploring structures. We will look at the Three Little Pigs: Building structures which can be made stronger, stiffer and more stable. The Knowledge Organiser for this is attached. Please use it to reinforce and repeat the learning at home.
Maths
This half term in Maths, Year 2 will be learning the structure of multiplication, commutativity, and counting in 2’s 5’s and 10’s. They will also make the link between doubling and halving with multiplication.
Year 1 will be learning to add and subtract using the part part whole model. They will solve missing number calculations within addition and subtraction.
All the children are going to be using concrete resources, visual images and representations to support them with their learning.
Literacy
We are starting off the half term by reading a version of ‘The Three Little Pigs’—this links to our DT this half term. The children will be writing their own version of the story. In the second half of the half term, we are going to be writing a page for our own class book linked to our Geography learning based on the non-fiction text ‘Transport’.
