Remembrance Assembly

This morning, Unit 4 presented their Remembrance Assembly to Unit 3. The children explained why you should take time to reflect, especially today, and read out some poems from our class book.

We would like to thank Lieutenant Commander Carpenter RN and Sergeant Apps RM Reserve for joining our assembly where they shared their chosen poems. Lieutenant Carpenter read two poems ‘The Man in the Arena’ by Theodore Roosevelt and ‘In Waters deep’ by Eileen Mahoney. Sergeant Apps read a poem called ‘ For the Fallen’.

It is important that we teach the children to be Good Citizens, to be tolerant and to be respectful. The children also need to know the importance of accepting other people’s differences and cultures. This ties in neatly with our Personal, Social, Health and Economic unit of work this half term which is all about celebrating differences.

We are very proud of all the children as they took part in the assembly either by reading or singing. All the children in the assembly showed their school value of Respect and Responsibility. Well done Year 5 and 6!
