Nursery Rhyme Week
Creativity
This week, the children in Barn Owls joyfully engaged with World Nursery Rhyme Week. Each day, they celebrated classic rhymes with immersive, sensory-rich experiences. This year’s chosen nursery rhymes were, Twinkle Twinkle, Old Macdonald, The Big Ship Sails, Incy Wincy Spider, and 5 Currant Buns.
Nursery rhymes are more than catchy tunes – they provide a powerful blend of rhythm, movement, and melody that deeply supports sensory engagement. Through these playful songs, our children explore rhythm and rhyme, which help build language patterns, support memory, and spark joyful social interactions. This celebration invites everyone to connect, laugh, and grow through the universal language of music and play!
This enrichment links with our School Value of Creativity – the ability to wonder and question, to explore and investigate. Through creative activities, children enhance their communication and language skills.
