Foundation Stage Theatre Trip

The Elves and the Shoemaker

Today was a very magical day for the children in Foundation. They went on their first school trip to the Barnfield Theatre in Exeter and watched a live performance of ‘The Elves and the Shoemaker’. The children were on the edge of their seats as the cheeky elves came to life with singing, dancing, and a sprinkle of magic. The show was a mix of acting and puppetry.

The elves taught the children the elf code, 'Be smart, be safe, keep out of sight, an elf always does what they know to be right'. As the shoemaker grew old, the elves had to break the elf code to help the shoemaker, but they knew it was the right thing to do. They were helping someone in need.

There was lots of laughter and clapping throughout the show. The children all thoroughly enjoyed themselves and said it was the best day ever! The teachers were incredibly proud of the children for demonstrating their school values. They showed respect to others and walked safely to and from the coach.

What a wonderful experience for the children. Thank you to the parents and carers for supporting the trip and to FOPPS for their contribution. A wonderful festive treat to end the term. Merry Christmas.
