School Values
This half term, the school value we are explicitly teaching is Independence. We teach children how we work independently when we overcome obstacles by persevering and being resilient. In school, we build resilience by celebrating mistakes, as making mistakes is how we learn. In our assemblies we will be linking independence to the British Value of Individual Liberty.
The Department for Education introduced five British Values in 2014 to help schools to prepare young people for life in modern Britain. We will teach children how Independence nurtures the ability to make informed choices, where people have the freedom to decide their path in life, and how Independence encourages pupils to take ownership of their actions.
