Foundation Stage Weekly Newsletter
Puffins and Penguins Weekly Newsletter 12th October 2018
Dear Parents and Carers,
We would firstly like to say how incredibly proud we are of all the children. They have been in school for less than six weeks and they have already achieved so much.
This week we have been writing about the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’ and talking about the characters. The children have been really engaged in the story and keen to share their ideas.
In phonics we have learnt 22 new sounds already. You will find all these sounds in their Read Write Inc booklet. We have been practising our letter formation and recognising the sounds.
In maths, we have been focusing on numbers 0-5. We have been working in small groups to unpick the numbers and answer challenging questions.
We hope you have a wonderful two week half term, and we look forward to seeing you back in school on Monday 29th October.
Parents Evening: Tuesday 30th October and Thursday 1st November. You will have received a text message detailing how to book an appointment. If you have any queries please let us know.
The Herald Express recently came to take our class photos. They should be published in the paper over the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye out!
We would like to invite you into school on Monday 5th November at 2.45pm to share our firework artwork and poems. Please come into school via the main reception.
Half Term home learning challenges
- Go on a shape and number hunt in your home or local environment. Take a photo of the shapes and numbers you find and stick them in your red book.
- Have a go at writing the sounds we have been learning in school. All the sounds can be found in the RWI booklet that has been sent home. Try writing your name or use sticky notes to label things around the house!
- Have fun with your family.
Many thanks,
Mrs Yeo, Mrs Bastin and Mrs Clague.
