Home Learning and Supporting the Curriculum at home
Please take time to read this half term’s Knowledge Organisers. These are designed for you to use to support your child’s learning at home. They set out clearly what we expect children to learn and remember in that subject. Please use them at home to reinforce and help embed your child’s learning.
Weekly Spelling Practice: Spellings are set every Friday on Spelling Shed.
Weekly Maths with be set on Maths Shed every Friday also.
Times tables should practiced at least 3 times a week at home.
Reading: Please read for 15 minutes every day – you can quiz at home on Accelerated Reader.
TEAMs: A creative piece of work around World War 1. Further information is available on TEAMs.
Reading records
We are sending your child home with a reading record book, we would like the children to record when they read their book and for how many pages. The record books will be used in and out of school. When your child reads aloud with you, please feel free to write a comment. These records will be looked at by a member of staff weekly.
We are trialling this new idea in the hope that these will encourage all children to read in and out of school to continue their love of reading.
PE:
This half term we will be doing gymnastics and dance during our PE lessons:
Kestrels and Eagles PE day is Thursday, Hawks PE day is Friday
Please ensure that your child is wearing their full PE kit into school on the correct day.

Our Curriculum
Children in Key Stage 1 and 2 will enjoy a long and short enquiry each half term.
Long Enquiries
A long enquiry typically lasts five weeks and allows us to teach a subject, such as history, in depth. Clear expectations of what will be learned, is shared with parents and pupils through a Knowledge Organiser. At the end of the work, we plan to use Enquiry Quizzes on our iPads to see how much each child has remembered.
Short Enquiries
A short enquiry can last anything from 1 – 3 days and adds breadth to our curriculum.
Our first Learning Enquiry this term is History, exploring why other nationalities from within the British Empire fought for Britain in World War One, the Knowledge Organiser for this will be on Teams and on the school website. Please use it to reinforce and repeat the learning at home.
