Physical Education
Our PE curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in sport and other physically demanding activities whilst supporting their health and fitness and developing their school value of Teamwork.

At Preston Primary, we aim to develop well-rounded children, who know how to make healthy choices and inspire them to have a lifelong, positive relationship with physical activity. Through our high-quality PE programme, GetSet4PE, pupils will develop physical competence and confidence. Our physical education curriculum has been carefully planned so that skills and knowledge are progressively built upon from the Foundation Stage, into Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Our aim is to develop competency and increase confidence when taking part, by revisiting and building upon the skills taught, leading to high levels of enjoyment, motivation, and participation beyond the school gates. Inclusivity is at the heart of our vision. We are dedicated to creating an environment where all children - regardless of ability, background, or skill level - can actively participate, compete, and find joy in physical activity. Our curriculum also emphasises the importance of teamwork, cooperation, fairness, and equitable play, equipping children with lifelong skills which will support them when working with others in their future.
During the Summer term, pupils benefit from swimming lessons in our outdoor pool, where they develop essential life skills, including swimming ability and confidence and learning safe self-rescue techniques.
Our PE curriculum enriches pupils’ personal development, health, and well-being, while promoting enjoyment, achievement, and success across all areas of learning and beyond.
