Computing
In our ever-evolving world, digital technology plays a crucial role in daily life. Our computing curriculum empowers children to be creators, not just consumers, and emphasises the importance of using technology positively, responsibly, and safely.

Our computing curriculum equips children with the computational and digital skills needed to understand and adapt to technological change.
By fostering critical thinking and creativity, we prepare pupils to use technology effectively, express their ideas, and solve problems. This ensures they are digitally literate and ready for future workplaces in an increasingly digital world.
Our curriculum focuses on three key areas:
- Information Technology: Exploring photography, digital art, augmented reality, presentations, and data handling.
- Computer Science: Learning programming, computer networks, and developing computational thinking.
- Digital Literacy: Using technology safely, understanding copyright, and applying critical thinking to online safety.
By integrating computational thinking, information technology, and digital literacy, we ensure that children at Preston Primary are confident in their use of technology, adaptable to technological change, and equipped to stay safe online. Pupils are taught to collaborate, communicate effectively, and think critically to solve challenges like bugs and errors. With support from Mr P ICT and the Exeter Computing Hub, part of the National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE), our curriculum provides a broad, enriching, and ambitious computing education.
