E-Safety

We prioritise the online safety of our children. In today's digital age, it's crucial to equip our children with the knowledge and tools to navigate the internet safely and responsibly.

How are children taught about online safety in school?

E-safety is part of our school curriculum. As part of Computing and PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) lessons, pupils are taught about online safety in an age-appropriate way. This is reinforced by assemblies and class discussions which include being taught:

  • what positive, healthy and respectful online relationships look like
  • the effects of their online actions on others
  • how to recognise and display respectful behaviour online
  • how to use technology safely, responsibly, respectfully and securely
  • where to go for help and support when they have concerns
  • that people sometimes behave differently online, including by pretending to be someone they are not
  • that the same principles apply to online relationships as to face-to-face relationships, including the importance of respect for others
  • the rules and principles for keeping safe online: how to recognise risks, harmful content and contact, and how to report them
  • how to critically consider their online friendships and sources of information
  • how information and data is shared and used online

Here is a reminder of the age restrictions on some of the more popular games and websites, often a surprise to parents!
