Music
We believe all children can achieve in music. Our high-quality music education captivates and inspires every pupil, while nurturing a love for music and their musical talents, therefore developing their self-confidence, creativity, and sense of achievement.

Our music curriculum engages and motivates children to see the world through the eyes of young musicians. We use Charanga to support our teaching of music. Charanga offers an integrated, practical, exploratory and child-led approach to music learning. The Charanga Units of Work in music enable children to understand musical concepts through a repetition-based approach to learning. Learning about the same musical concept through different musical activities enables a more secure, deeper learning and mastery of musical skills. Over a unit of work children will develop their musical skills as the learning progresses through listening and appraising, differing musical activities (including creating and exploring) and performing. Over their time at Preston, children will perform, listen to, review and evaluate music across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions.
