World Book Day Celebrations

Reading for Pleasure

March 11, 2025

World Book Day is a fantastic opportunity to promote a ‘Love of Learning,’ which is one of our School Aims. The entire school had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day last week. This annual event enables children to immerse themselves and celebrate reading, books, authors, and illustrators. It was delightful to see so many children dressed up as their favourite book characters or wearing cosy pyjamas—they all looked amazing. A big thank you to parents and carers for your help in providing costumes.

Throughout the day, the children enjoyed a variety of activities. They were treated to a wonderful storytelling performance by Malou Evans. They were visited by a mystery reader, shared their favourite books with one another, had stories in the classroom, Woodland Camp and Amphitheatre, and took part in various craft activities. Molly the therapy dog also spent the afternoon with lots of children sharing stories.

Reading is central to our curriculum, and fostering a love of books and reading encourages children to read for pleasure. World Book Day is a wonderful opportunity for the whole school to collaborate and share their love of reading.

Every child was given a £1 World Book Day token. These can be exchanged for one of the exclusive 2025 World Book Day books or redeemed for£1 off the full price of another book. You have until 23rd March to use the voucher. More information can be found on the World Book Day website. £1/€1.50 Books and Tokens- World Book Day
