Exeter Cathedral Trip

'What can I find out about my local area in 1086?'

Last week, Unit 3 visited Exeter Cathedral as part of their History short enquiry: ‘What can I find out about my local area in 1086?’

On the trip, children thought like Historians to find answers to their own lines of enquiry. This trip served as a hook to inspire them to want to find out more using primary sources from the time. Children had a tour of the Cathedral and a workshop exploring one of Exeter Cathedral’s most precious artefacts, the Exon Domesday Book (the draft copy of William the Conqueror’s Domesday Book, which is on display in London). All the children were excellent ambassadors to our school, demonstrating excellent respect for the cathedral and the artefacts they were exploring. Their love of learning was clear, with one child saying, “This is the most interesting trip I’ve ever been on.” Brilliant work Unit 3, you were all fantastic.
