Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum Principles
Our early years curriculum empowers and inspires children to be curious, empathetic, determined and unique individuals through developing their character. Children flourish in our Early Years settings because our teachers provide language rich experiences and put children’s individual needs at the forefront.

We endeavour to provide engaging learning environments that excite and challenge our youngest learners to try different experiences and develop their thinking skills.
The Early Years Curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation for young children's learning and development. It focuses on fostering a love for learning through play-based, child-centred and adult led activities. By engaging in a variety of hands-on experiences, children develop essential skills and knowledge that prepare them for future academic success.
The curriculum emphasizes the importance of creating a nurturing and stimulating environment where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to explore and discover. Children experience high quality teaching and learning both indoors and outdoors. Through positive interactions with teachers and peers, children build confidence, independence, and a sense of curiosity that will support their lifelong learning journey.
We aim to:
- Provide play-based and purposeful experiences that cultivate children’s confidence, independence and the ability to make positive relationships with others.
- Nurture children so that they develop physically, cognitively, emotionally and we ensure they are given opportunities to express themselves in an environment that values all cultures communities and people.
- Build constructive, lasting and supportive partnerships with parents so that we can work together to ensure children’s wellbeing and academic excellence.
- Review, assess and plan for individuals and small groups, incorporating both direct teaching and child-led activities so that every child’s individual needs are met and all children make good progress.
- Ensure our early years curriculum focuses on embedding self-regulation, talk strategies and communication and language skills.
- Offer ambitious and inspiring learning environments that encourage children to be leaders of their learning and promote a life-long love of learning gaining new and exciting knowledge.
- Review and reflect our EYFS Curriculum linked to evidence-based research that is proven to have a profound impact on children’s development.
