Teddy Bear Hospital
Ready for Work

Linking to our school aim ‘Ready for Work’, Puffins and Penguins enjoyed a visit yesterday from a group of Student Doctors from Torbay Hospital. They talked about their job and how they show respect by caring for others. They also spoke to the children about how to keep their bodies healthy. The children enjoyed a carousel of activities learning about the heart, measuring their height, looking inside a doctors bag, and learning how to correctly wash their hands. The children were engaged in the activities and the doctors were impressed by their knowledge of germs! It was a delight to see so much enthusiasm and a love of learning.
At the end of the session the children had the opportunity to take their soft toy to the ‘Teddy Bear Hospital’. Each teddy was seen by the doctor. They used a stethoscope to check the heartbeat and gave each teddy a ‘pawscription’. Some teddies had a bandage or a plaster. It was a fun and informative afternoon, thank you to the Student Doctors for giving up their time to visit. Lots of children are now inspired to be a Doctor when they grow up!
