Visit to the Spanish Barn at Torre Abbey

Unit 2 enjoyed an interesting trip to the Spanish Barn at Torre Abbey last week, linked with our History long enquiry ‘Why is there a Spanish Barn in Torquay?’ The children made Spanish and English ships then used their History skills to re-enact the events of the Spanish Armada with the ships they had made. Spending the day in the Spanish Barn brought the story of the Spanish prisoners alive for the children enabling them to learn about the consequences for some of the Spanish sailors from this event. As always we were incredibly proud of the way the children behaved during day, they really are excellent ambassadors for our school. All the children demonstrated our School Aim of 'Love to Learn'.
