Following some training and funding from the Bikeability Trust, who provided 6 balance bikes and helmets for our school, we have been able to offer our Year 1 children the chance to participate in the Get Cycling: Balance course with The Bikeability Trust.

Get Cycling: Balance is a programme which uses games to help riders develop cycle handling and awareness skills off-road on balance bikes, propelling the bike with their feet rather than the pedals.

The children have taken part in games which have required them to use our school values of determination and responsibility as they have learnt how to stride and glide, how to stop, and understand how to move around obstacles and other riders. It has been wonderful to see the children apply our school values in a different environment.

The year 1 children have loved learning to ride the balance bikes and have grown in confidence using them. The Tawny Owls year 1s are next to benefit from this in the second half of the Spring Term.
